Fair share

It was one of those moments.  The kind where you pull out all of your worst parenting moves because you are desperate for a certain child to behave.  And then you hear that he didn't listen as well as he really should have and you just feel so darn tired of it that you decide the only thing to do is to say no donut as you had warned.  And you follow through, despite your better judgement.  And you feel sort of like shit about it but you stick to your guns because you are just not sure what the hell else to do at that moment.  And you feel a little bit less than whole because of it.

Then you overhear them in the back, and they are each offering him part of their donut.  Not because they were told to but because that is the thing they knew to be right. They would only get the donuts themselves if they were allowed to each give some of theirs to him.  They would not feel the joy if he had to feel the pain.  And so they did.  Two donuts, three boys, one overwhelmed Mom with a heart full of pride.

On the good days, I am pretty sure that the world would be better off if it was being run by people under 10.

Noah turns 9

Have we talked about this already?  That my oldest baby turned 9 the other day.  Oh, we have?  Carry on then.

Feeling Blue.

Well, would you looks that.  Two days shy of Thanksgiving and someone accidentally pulled the curtains off the wall.

Just like to make everyone feel comfortable in our home.

We found this awesome futon bunk bed on Craig's List recently and just assembled it today as an early birthday present for Noah.  There is also a trundle bed underneath but we do not have a mattress for it yet.

I found the boys snuggled together tonight playing their games.

Tomorrow we have Noah's 9th friends birthday party.  It is also National Premie Awareness Day.  Huh.  Rock.  Star.  Boy.  Proud like fireworks bursting from my wide open chest with a great big choking sob just sitting right behind my awe struck smile.  How's that for some hyperbole?

Coughee

Here we are all cozy on a back to school Tuesday following an extra long weekend.  William is fighting off a cough so we are snacking on some honey in the hopes that its immunity fighting properties will kick the shiz out of this cough and leave us alone.

Other than at all is well on the home front.

We are approaching a big season of celebration in our house.  Birthdays, thanksgiving, Christmas.
Have some boys getting big over here.  For this I will do nothing other than celebrate.  And they still like to hang out with me and give me kisses at the bus stop in front of everyone like they just don't care and whatever if any other little kids think anything of it.

Oh, and Noah got all sneaky the other day and posted to my Facebook update "My Mom is ossem."  He also scheduled some playground time for the two if us into my calendar .  So, there's that.

A first time for everything

So, this is what's been going on around here over the past few days.  A fall on the playground, trip to the walk in for an x-ray, and a follow up trip the next day to the orthopedist for a cast.  What's new with you?
